Application Support Engineer
Kendrion Group
Descrição da vaga
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a sharp, resourceful Application Support Engineer to own
our portfolio of business applications — and grow well beyond it.
You will start by becoming the internal expert on critical legacy systems, then use
that deep knowledge as a launchpad: modernising infrastructure, shaping
our tooling strategy, and building the technical foundations that replace
what you inherit.
This is a role for someone who enjoys detective work today, but wants to be
an architect tomorrow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Application stewardship: Own a portfolio of legacy business applications
— managing access, system health, and continuity for mission-critical
tools.
Proactive maintenance: Lead SSL renewals, server migrations, and patch
management with a zero-downtime mindset.
Root-cause troubleshooting: Diagnose application failures using logs,
database queries, and systematic analysis — especially where
documentation is absent.
Modernisation input: As you master each legacy system, identify
migration opportunities and contribute to the roadmap for replacing or
upgrading aging infrastructure.
Knowledge creation: Build the internal knowledge base from scratch —
turning undocumented "black-box" systems into clear, maintainable
documentation.
Vendor & stakeholder coordination: Act as the technical point of contact
for vendors, holding them to SLAs and translating complex issues into
clear business language.
Tooling & automation: Once stable, look for opportunities to automate
repetitive support tasks using scripting, APIs, or AI tooling — freeing
yourself for higher-value work.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The "figure-it-out" factor: You enjoy opening a black box to see how the
gears turn — and then documenting what you found so no one has to
figure it out again.
Tech versatile: Comfortable across different stacks, UI styles, database
types, and hosting environments. You adapt fast.
Growth-oriented: You see legacy support as a starting point, not a ceiling.
You're drawn to roles where deep expertise becomes leverage for
something bigger.
Independent & communicative: You operate well with thin in-house
knowledge, but know when to bring others in and can translate technical
complexity for any audience.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Deep understanding of how web applications, servers, and databases
interact
Experience with logs, browser dev tools, and SQL queries for
troubleshooting
Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate management and Identity & Access
Management (IAM)
Comfort using AI tools, OSINT, and developer forums for obscure
problem-solving
3+ years in Application Support, Systems Administration, or a generalist
technical role
WHY JOIN US
Real ownership from day one: You won't be a small cog. You will be the
resident expert on systems that keep the business running — with the
autonomy to match.
A genuine growth path: Mastering our legacy stack gives you rare
institutional leverage. The natural next step is shaping what replaces it —
and we want you in that conversation.
Intelligence over scripts: No ticket queues. No script-following. This role
rewards curiosity, creative problem-solving, and the kind of thinking that
finds answers when none exist.
Work with modern tools on old problems: Bring AI, automation, and
modern observability practices to a space that desperately needs them.
Your methods will be current even when the systems aren't.
